Islamic Dream Interpretation Canine Dog

January 2, 2023 by Mubsher Rizvi

Dog in a dream also represents a beggar, an obsequious or a street boy, despicable and a lowly person who maintains his affection toward his master and he jealously guards his children, property or his self. It also means love, greed for worldly pleasures and committing a dogfight to win them and failing to have any savings or reserves. All types of dogs represent people in a dream. If one takes a dog for a companion on a journey in his dream it means disappearning. Source: Ibn Sirin

It also means becoming a fugitive, disbelief, losing hope or ingratitude, belying, fear or imprisonment.

A dog in a dream represents an insolent man who can take part in sinful actions. And if he barks in the dream then it means that such man has an abominable or impulsive character and is impudent. Source: Ibn Sirin

In a dream dog could also represent an insolent woman or a vile who belong to a group of people who do evil acts and who are persistent in their enmity. Source: Ibn Sirin

Dog Symbolizes an Enemy

Dog in a dream also symbolizes a perbond enemy whose hatred has not reached its peak yet and he will soon become the dreamer’s friend. But he is also having a mean and malicious character. Source: Ibn Sirin

All kinds of dogs refer to wicked persons. And can have different meanings.

For Al-Nabulsi, dog indicates a gate-man, guardian, niggardly person, policeman of low rank, a weak enemy, profligate, a stupid, or an aggressive man who never hesitates to commit any type of foolish or criminal acts, especially when it barks; it would mean he has an awful temper and he is terrible. Source: Various Islamic Scholars

The dog is also a harbinger of fever, in view of the terrible disease Al-Shiira Al-Yamaneyyah  (literally translated, it means the Yemeni hair; probably hirsutism or hypertrichosis, more popularly known as the werewolf phenomenon, which had a correlation not with the full moon, but with Al-Shiira Al-Yamaneyyah, which was also the name of Sirius, a star of the constellation called the Greater Dog, or Canis Major, which is the brightest star in the heavens). Source: Various Islamic Scholars

Dog could be a sign of atheism, apostasy or despair in God’s mercy and skepticism about His messages. Source: Various Islamic Scholars

All dogs symbolize the worldly persons (perhaps because, in Arabic, whereas the word kalb means “dog,” takalub means “to rush madly upon; to contend for”) as well as the submissive people, beggars, humble, or the boys who go from door to door. Source: Various Islamic Scholars

In Abstract terms, dogs are the incarnation of meanness, villainy, lowliness, and care for the latter’s money and children or in-laws and humiliation or humility with everlasting affection for the master. Source: Various Islamic Scholars

According to Ibn Sirin, dream interpreters don’t agree on what a dog represents. Some of them regard it as a servant or slave, others as a terrible person, a slanderer or as a despot if it barks. Source: Various Islamic Scholars
